What each bet returns
Baccarat payouts: what Player, Banker and Tie bets pay
Player pays 1 to 1. Banker pays 1 to 1 minus a commission, usually 5%. Tie usually pays 8 to 1 or 9 to 1. Here is what that means in actual money.
Payout chart
| Bet | Pays (profit) | Total returned on a 100 bet | If the hands tie |
|---|---|---|---|
| Player | 1 to 1 | 200 | Push: 100 returned |
| Banker | 1 to 1 less 5% commission (0.95 to 1) | 195 | Push: 100 returned |
| Tie | 8 to 1 (some tables pay 9 to 1) | 900 (1,000 at 9 to 1) | Wins |
“Pays” is profit. A 100 Player bet that wins returns 200 in total: your 100 stake plus 100 profit. Use the payout calculator to enter your own bet, commission and Tie payout.
How the Banker commission works
The casino takes the commission from your winnings, not from your stake. On a 100 Banker bet that wins, the win is 100, the commission is 5, and your profit is 95.
| Banker bet | Win before commission | Commission (5%) | Profit | Total returned |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 10.00 | 0.50 | 9.50 | 19.50 |
| 25 | 25.00 | 1.25 | 23.75 | 48.75 |
| 50 | 50.00 | 2.50 | 47.50 | 97.50 |
| 100 | 100.00 | 5.00 | 95.00 | 195.00 |
| 500 | 500.00 | 25.00 | 475.00 | 975.00 |
Some tables round the commission or collect it at a different time, such as the end of a shoe, so the exact amount can differ from this math. The table’s posted rules decide.
Tie bets
A Tie bet wins only when both hands finish with the same total. At 8 to 1, a winning 10 bet returns 90 in total; at 9 to 1 it returns 100. A bigger payout does not make the bet better value, because ties are rare. The odds page shows the house edge on each bet.
When the hands tie
If you bet on Player or Banker and the hands tie, the bet pushes: nothing is won or lost and your stake is returned. Only a Tie bet wins.
Side bets and variants
Pair bets, no-commission versions and other variants have their own pay tables, and these differ from casino to casino. This page covers the standard Punto Banco terms described on the sources page. Check the terms posted at your table.
